Project and job description
The successful applicants will become members of the Energy Group within the Institute F.-A. Forel, Faculty of Sciences and they will be housed by the inter-faculty Institute for Environmental Sciences (ISE) that is active in cross-disciplinary research in the domains of energy, climate change, surface waters and urban ecology as well as sustainability. The successful candidates will engage in the project studying the current level of energy efficiency and the potentials for energy savings in Switzerland and in the canton of Geneva. We will analyse both saving potentials for electricity and for heat and a variety of methods will be applied including decomposition analysis, regression analysis and geographical information systems. Further research objectives are the evaluation of energy efficiency programmes of various types and of Energy Performance Contracting.
Candidates should have a Master and a Ph.D. degree respectively in physics, engineering and/or environmental sciences and they must be able to combine thorough technical understanding with economic assessment and broader aspects of the energy transition. Excellent knowledge of English is a necessity and good knowledge of French and/or German is a clear advantage.
