CTU is one of the biggest and oldest technical universities in Europe. EEB-CZ cooperates with the faculties of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering and the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings.
The University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings is a multidisciplinary research centre with unique equipment for researchers and students from four CTU faculties (civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering). It has been built with support from structural funds in the industrial zone near Kladno.
UCEEB deals with environmentally friendly, energy effective buildings with healthy indoor environments. Thanks to their professional, independent, and complex approach, UCEEB has the potential to significantly influence the building industry in the Czech Republic.
The principal aim of CZELO is to support the successful integration of the Czech research community with European research, particularly through the EU Framework Programmes for Research, Development and Innovation (Horizon 2020).
To achieve this goal, CZELO organizes events for partner offices, EU institutions representatives, and other organizations seated in Brussels, organizes presentation stands and distributes promotional materials, co-organizes international conferences and brings Czech speakers, provides support and assistance during project meetings in Brussels, and provides information and consultancy in community research programmes. The office cooperates with colleagues from similar international offices, the European Commission, the Czech Business Representation to the EU (CEBRE) and representatives of Czech regions in Brussels.
Building Efficiency Awards (BEFFA)
Building Efficiency Awards is a Czech-Slovak initiative that seeks buildings with unique architecture, construction, and energy efficiency for recognition at a prestigious award event organized under the auspices of the Technical University in Brno and other universities (CTU in Prague, STU Bratislava, TU Liberec, and TU Zvolen). The competition is accompanied by a series of seminars and a conference, serving as a platform for discussion on trends in the field of energy efficient buildings.
The jury is composed of professionals with different backgrounds from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The head of the jury, acting as the guarantor of the competition, is doc. Ing. Jiří Hirš, CSc. The competition is always supported by other professional bodies such as the Czech chamber of authorized engineers and technicians in the building industry (ČKAIT) or relevant ministries. Accompanying events focus on innovative materials, sustainable buildings, the Smart Cities concept, and energy savings grant opportunities.
As a result of collaboration with Ministry of Industry and Trade we were appointed as representatives of the Czech Republic in thematic group TG1 – Stimulating investment in building renovation, infrastructure and innovation of the High Level Forum on Sustainable Construction set up by DG Enterprise, European Commission. The group was established in relation to the Communication "Strategy for the sustainable competitiveness of the construction sector and its enterprises", COM(2012) 433 final.
